Vertical Connection – November 2

Come out of the dark“This is the message that we heard from Jesus and that we now declare to you: God is light and in him there is no darkness at all. Therefore, we are lying if we affirm that we have communion with God but continue to live in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth ”. – 1 John 1: 5-6 This text is written by John, the beloved disciple of Jesus, the one who when everyone fled and hid because Christ was being crucified, stayed by his side and even took charge of taking care of his teacher’s mother. John can speak of communion and intimacy with Jesus, John was in the most important moments of his life while he was on earth. John walked with him, spoke with Jesus, learned from him and even touched him after his resurrection. This same John is reminding us through this verse that the person who claims to know Jesus, who calls himself a disciple or who receives the name of Christian but has areas in his life hidden from the light of Christ, is simply not being honest with God, nor with himself. The only way we can escape spiritual darkness, chaotic situations, circumstances that we prefer to hide or that embarrass us, is not through religious practices, nor through masks that appear to be false perfection, but due to a real communion , genuine and intimate with Jesus.Jesus Christ is light, all his life on earth was clear, clear, Jesus did nothing secretly or with his back to God, or to men. He wants our life to be the same; transparent and honest. Not only with the people around us, but with ourselves but especially with Him. We can deceive men, it is easy to live by pretense and maintain a status before people but this leaves nothing but a trace of dissatisfaction, bitterness and nonconformity. It is not possible to live fully when there is still darkness in our lives, because sooner or later we become slaves to it. Jesus’ purpose is for us to practice the truth, because that brings light into our lives and sets us free. His Light gives us the fullness that our soul so desires. Decide today to live in the light of Christ, allow Him to enter your life and illuminate those areas that for so long have taken away your freedom and transparency. Remember that it does not depend on you but on the intimacy that you are willing to experience with your Lord. Dilean Canas
