www.bible.com/reading-plans/1763/day/Hearing God’s Voice

Like Job, I want to treasure (crave) God’s words and guidance more than my daily food! Don’t you? Like the Scripture from Isaiah taught, I want to be able to hear the voice behind me telling me the way I should walk in.

But, how do I hear His voice? And, is He really still speaking? Take heart; God is a communicator! He created the gift of communication. That means He does speak, and we do have the ability to hear Him—and even respond to His voice. If God is still speaking, we should do everything in our power to recognize His voice and listen! The act of listening is what’s so desperately needed, yet often sorely lacking, for true communication.

First, let’s look at some ways God will speak to us.

God speaks through His Word. God’s already revealed much of His will and plan for us through the Word of God. Spending time reading His Word is one of the strongest ways to hear directly from Him.

God speaks through His Whispers. He will often speak softly to our spirits, give us dreams, visions, and/or instruct us through our circumstances. He also will direct our thoughts to His plans.

God speaks through His People. At times God will speak His heart for us through other Christians. It could be in the form of encouragement, correction, or guidance.

My prayer is that this short, seven-day reading plan will be straight from our loving Father’s heart to teach you to avoid the opposing clamor, awaken you to focus on His voice, and fully captivate your heart.

Ask the Father: What do I need to do to become a better listener?

He Laid Down His Life…For Us.

“Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” 1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Christ willingly laid down His life for us. He willingly died just for you. He offered His life as a living selfless sacrifice. He loved us so much, that He willingly surrendered His life as a sacrifice for all who would receive Him. Christ was willing to pour out His life as an obedient sacrifice so that you and I can live.

1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭AMPC‬‬ declares, “By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].” Choose to live a selfless life that reflects the Heart and Character of Christ.

Choose to submit, serve and honor God through every aspect of your life. Let your gifts, talents and abilities reflect His Heart. Choose to let His Love and Heart reflect in your everyday interactions with others. Choose to be selfless and serve others.

1 John‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ declares, “We know what real love is because Jesus gave up his life for us. So we also ought to give up our lives for our brothers and sisters.” Choose to be selfless and serve. Choose to give up your reputation and honor God by serving others.

Maybe God blessed you with that job in order to be a selfless reflection of His Light. Maybe God allowed you to serve in that position in order to be a reflection of His Light to your colleagues. Maybe God allowed you to serve in the Boardroom in order to be a selfless reflection of His Light. Submit the work of your hands to Christ.

Choose to reflect His Light in dark places. Choose to reflect the selfless Heart of Christ in every area of your life. Maybe you were sent by God in order to lead others to Him through your everyday interactions. Choose to be selfless. Choose to reflect Him.

Put your agenda aside and surrender to the agenda of Christ. You were sent to be salt and light in the Earth. Choose to represent Christ. Choose to live a selfless life that represents Christ.
