“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29
Why did Jesus die?
God made us in His own image to relate and fellowship with Him. That relationship was broken because of Adam‘s disobedience in the garden of Eden. We all as a result were born with that ‘original sin‘. The Bible says “For as by one man‘s disobedience, many were made sinners..”. Rom. 5:12. Man’s relationship with God was affected because He is so holy and cannot bear to look at our sin.
Jesus is ‘the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world‘ to take away our sins. Being righteous and without blemish, He came and took upon Himself the punishment that was due to us. “and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself… having made peace through the blood of His cross” Col. 1:20
*Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.- Rom. 5:9*
And so, Christ is the long awaited Messiah who saves people from their sins and reconcile them to God for a new and everlasting covenant.(Isa. 55:3; Jer. 32:40; Luke 22:20)
The new covenant is for an everlasting life to be spent with God for those who have faith in Christ Jesus and His finished work at Calvary.
JESUS‘ RESURECTION is a triumph of good over evil, and life over death. By His resurrection, He has offered eternal life to everyone who has faith in Him and His finished work at Calvary which in itself is a big victory over eternal separation from God.
*And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.*
*He who has the Son has life; and he who does not have the Son of God does not have life. – 1 John 5:11,12*
As we celebrate Easter, we must keep in mind that Christ is the reason for the season. Jesus came with the message of hope, love, compassion, forgiveness and Salvation. He has already paid the price for our sins. He gave His life for the salvation of our souls. We all need to recognize the fact that we have a sinful nature and therefore need to confess our sins and ask God for forgiveness.
Have a blessed and happy Easter. As Jesus said “I am the resurrection and life” John 11:25. May the Lord guide, protect and keep you all in this season and all through your life’s journey.
Amen
